Our Vision

As a proud Victorian Government school, our vision for education at Caulfield Primary School aligns directly with the recently released vision for public education in the education state of Victoria.

This vision is to deliver excellence in every classroom in every corner of the state. Working in partnership with our schools and communities to prioritise:

  • Excellence in teaching and learning
  • Every student matters
  • Lifting secondary school student engagement and achievement
  • Expanding, supporting and recognising our school workforce
  • Schools at the centre of communities

The school will work to support this vision in the following ways:

  • Excellence in teaching and learning: As a proud and committed bilingual primary school, our commitment to excellence in teaching and learning incorporates high quality, explicit instruction in both English and Japanese. Our school has long established high expectations for the teaching and learning focus in every classroom and works to establish consistent schoolwide approaches to benefit every child in every classroom. The school has highly regarded Naplan outcomes in Year 3 and 5 across all domains and has immersive language experiences that see students finish their primary schooling with Japanese language fluency comparable to Year 10 outcomes.

  • Every Student Matters: Learning can be different for every child but without exception, Caulfield Primary School ensures that teaching, learning and wellbeing is the cornerstone of all that we do. We want each child to ensure that each day at school is their best day. In addition to our bilingual learning, we ensure that students are supported via support structures including a speech pathologist, individual education plans, Japanese language assistants, small class sizes, wellbeing frameworks and wellbeing leader, and a strong partnership with out of school hours provider (Team Kids). We promote inclusive classrooms with a reconciliation action plan, explicit teaching of respectful relationships and a partnership with accredited mental health provider SmilingMind. At Caulfield Primary School, every student matters and whilst the school day can look different for every child, quality of opportunity and education will never be compromised.

  • Lifting secondary school student engagement and achievement: Caulfield Primary School has strong relationships with local government secondary schools ensuring that students are beginning their secondary schooling with an opportunity to be engaged and achieve their potential. Our teachers regularly visit and collaborate with local secondary schools and we enjoy strong relationships with schools in our local area. Regular feedback provided by schools note that Caulfield Primary School students are independent, mature and school ready as they begin their commencement of Year 7. Luckily for us, many our students often come back to visit us to share back and keep us informed of how they are progressing in their secondary school education.

  • Expanding, supporting and recognising our school workforce: At Caulfield Primary School, we are strongly committed to ensuring that staff have the opportunity to develop and deepen their expertise. We participate in structured professional learning that focuses on teaching, learning and wellbeing outcomes for every child. Over recent years we have engaged with educational consultants including Nathaniel Swain, Ryan Dunn, Bronwyn Ryrie Jones, Simon Breakspear, Anne De Kretser. We have supported teachers to undertake post-graduate studies in education. We are also recognised for our professional knowledge and leadership with staff presenting and delivering professional learning both locally and overseas. We have staff that work as members of bilingual education committees, local network leadership networks and are engaged as presenters and professional learning facilitators in learning and wellbeing.

  • Schools at the centre of communities: As a school of just over 300 students, we maintain a very centralised vision for the school as a community partner. We commit to establishing strong relationships with families and prospective families and recognise that education is a true partnership between home and school. Our unique bilingual immersion priorities means we invest in strong relationships with our local networks including the Japanese Consulate, local council and local government, the Japanese independent school of Melbourne and continue to develop our sister school relationship with Nakagawa Elementary School and tertiary providers in both Victoria and overseas. The school has celebrated pieces that link to our local community including a strong Parents and Friends Club, a supportive school council, an engaged and committed parent body, school fetes and school productions and a bi-annual Japan Trip for students.

Caulfield Primary School is unique, we continue to espouse high expectations for the quality of education that our students receive in our care. We have a vision for schooling that promotes learning and wellbeing outcomes for every child, every day.
